PDO recognition

The recognition of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for the Liquorice of Calabria took place in 2011 following the certification of uniqueness obtained from the European Union, after a journey that lasted over 10 years and carried out with grit and dedication by Dr. Antonio Massarotto , founder and current Director of the Consortium.
In 2012, with DM dated 10 September in GU n.222 dated 22/09/2012, the Consortium became a recognized Organism.
The particularity of this Denomination lies in the recognition attributed to the same product for two different types: the fresh root as it is as a category belonging to spices, and the extract deriving from its processing belonging to the sector of confectionery products.

This is the first time that a PDO denomination has received double recognition for a single product.
